Living in Keller often feels like you’ve found a sweet spot in the DFW Metroplex. We are tucked away enough to enjoy the trails at Bear Creek Park and the community feel of Old Town, yet we are close enough to the bustle of Fort Worth and the Alliance corridor for work and entertainment.
From the outside, life here often looks idyllic. Whether you are raising a family in Hidden Lakes, settling into a new home in Marshall Ridge, or enjoying the quiet of the older neighborhoods near Shady Grove, there is a pressure to maintain a certain quality of life. But I know that a beautiful zip code doesn’t immunize you against stress. In fact, the drive to keep everything "perfect"—managing a demanding career, supporting your children’s busy schedules at Keller ISD, and keeping up with social obligations—can become a breeding ground for anxiety.
I am Anamile Guerra, a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate. I offer virtual therapy to help you navigate these feelings without adding another commute to your already busy day.
The Hidden Stress of Suburban Life
Keller is frequently celebrated as one of the best places to live in Texas. It is family-oriented, safe, and affluent. However, there is often a silent struggle that happens behind closed doors in communities like ours. When everyone around you seems to have it all together—posting photos of perfect family outings at The Keller Pointe or celebrating another win at the Keller Sports Park—it can be incredibly isolating to feel like you are falling apart inside.
You might find yourself lying awake at night, replaying conversations from the day. You might feel a constant tightness in your chest while sitting in traffic on Rufe Snow or US-377, worrying about things that haven’t happened yet. This is often where anxiety takes root. It tells you that you aren't doing enough, that you need to work harder, or that if you stop for even a second, everything will collapse.
I want you to know that you don’t have to carry that weight alone. My goal is to provide a space where you can drop the façade and just be human.
Why Online Therapy Fits the Keller Lifestyle
Let’s be honest: getting around the Golden Triangle area isn’t as easy as it used to be. Between the road construction projects that seem to pop up overnight and the increasing traffic on Keller Parkway, adding a drive to a therapy office can feel like just another stressor.
By operating as a fully telehealth practice, I remove that barrier. You don’t have to worry about running into a neighbor or a colleague in a waiting room. You don’t have to fight rush hour traffic to get to an appointment on time.
My clients in Keller appreciate the flexibility this offers. You can have your session during a lunch break from your home office, from your parked car in a quiet spot near the library, or from the comfort of your couch after the kids are asleep. I utilize a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform that allows us to connect face-to-face, wherever you feel most safe and comfortable.
Mi enfoque para tratar la ansiedad
Anxiety often convinces us that we are in danger when we are actually safe. It hijacks our nervous system and clouds our thinking. In our sessions, I help you understand the mechanics of this process so it feels less frightening.
I draw from several evidence-based approaches to create a plan that works for you:
- Terapia cognitivo-conductual (TCC): We will look at the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Often, anxiety is fueled by automatic negative thoughts. We will work together to identify these patterns and replace them with more balanced, realistic perspectives.
- Terapia Breve Centrada en Soluciones (SFBT): Instead of dwelling endlessly on the problem, we will focus on what is working and where you want to go. We will identify your existing strengths and use them to build a roadmap toward your goals.
- Person-Centered & Positive Psychology: I believe you are the expert on your own life. My role isn't to "fix" you, because you aren't broken. My role is to offer empathy, a non-judgmental environment, and the tools you need to unlock your potential.
I am also bilingual, fluent in both English and Spanish. As the demographics of Tarrant County shift and become more diverse, I know how important it is for some clients to be able to express deep emotions in their native language. Whether you prefer to speak in English, Spanish, or a mix of both (Spanglish is welcome here!), I want you to feel fully understood.
High-Functioning Anxiety: The "Successful" Struggle
A common theme I see, particularly in areas with high-achieving populations like Keller, is high-functioning anxiety. On the surface, you are successful. You are dependable. You are the one who organizes the neighborhood block party or leads the project at work. But internally, you are driven by a fear of failure or letting people down.
You might experience:
- Difficulty saying "no" to requests, leading to burnout.
- Perfectionism that makes starting tasks difficult (procrastination) or finishing them impossible (obsessing over details).
- Physical symptoms like headaches, muscle tension, or fatigue, even when you haven't been physically active.
- A harsh inner critic that never lets you celebrate your wins.
We can work together to lower the volume of that inner critic. You can still be successful and ambitious without sacrificing your mental health and peace of mind.
