Living in Rowlett often feels like you’ve found a sweet spot between city access and lakeside calm. Whether you chose this area for the weekends on Lake Ray Hubbard, the community feel of neighborhoods like Waterview, or simply to get a little more space than you’d find in Dallas, the appeal is obvious.

But the reality of maintaining that lifestyle can sometimes feel like a heavy weight. For many of the residents I work with, the "quiet" suburban life is actually filled with high-pressure rushing—racing to beat the traffic across the bridge, managing family schedules, and trying to keep everything holding together behind closed doors.

I’m Anamile Guerra, a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate. I provide virtual anxiety therapy to help you slow down the racing thoughts and find genuine balance, all without adding another commute to your day.

When the "Lakeside Calm" Feels Far Away

Rowlett is growing fast. We see it in the new developments popping up along Dalrock and the constant evolution of the downtown area. While growth brings new amenities, it also brings a unique kind of pressure. You might feel like you’re constantly running on a treadmill to keep up—whether it’s maintaining the perfect home in a strict HOA, navigating the uncertainty of big local changes like the Sapphire Bay project, or just trying to be the perfect parent or partner.

Anxiety often creeps in when the gap between how we think our lives should look and how they actually feel gets too wide. You might experience it as:

  • The Commuter’s dread: That tightening in your chest before you even hit the I-30 bridge or the George Bush Turnpike, knowing you’re about to lose an hour of your day.
  • Mental exhaustion: Feeling like your brain never turns off, even when you’re supposed to be relaxing at the Community Centre or walking the trails at Paddle Point Park.
  • Perfeccionismo: A fear that if you drop one ball, everything you’ve worked for will fall apart.

If you find yourself snapping at loved ones after a long drive home or lying awake at night worrying about the future, you aren’t alone, and you don’t have to keep white-knuckling through it.

Why Telehealth Works for Rowlett

One of the biggest barriers to therapy in the DFW metroplex is simply getting there. If you live in the Peninsula or near the rock quarry, the last thing you want to do after work is get back in the car and fight traffic to get to a counseling office in Dallas or Plano.

I offer 100% virtual therapy because I believe mental health support should actually reduce your stress, not add to it.

  • No Bridge Traffic: Skip the bottleneck. You can log in from your home office, your parked car in a quiet spot, or your living room.
  • Privacidad: In a tight-knit community where you might run into your neighbors at the grocery store or the local target, telehealth offers a layer of discretion that many of my clients appreciate.
  • Flexibility: It’s easier to fit a 50-minute session into a lunch break or late afternoon when you don’t have to account for travel time.

My Approach to Anxiety

I am bilingual (fluent in English and Spanish) and work under the supervision of Jennifer Gonzalez, MS, LPC-S, and Amanda Varnon, MA, LPC-S. My goal is to create a space where you can be fully yourself—without the mask you might wear for the rest of the world.

I don’t believe in a "one-size-fits-all" fix. Instead, I use a blend of evidence-based approaches tailored to what you need right now:

  • Terapia cognitivo-conductual (TCC): We look at the cycle of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. If you constantly think "I’m not doing enough," we’ll examine that thought, challenge it, and work on changing the behavior that follows.
  • Terapia Breve Centrada en Soluciones (SFBT): sometimes you need immediate tools to manage a crisis or a specific stressor. We focus on what’s working, what’s possible, and how to take small, practical steps forward.
  • Person-Centered & Positive Psychology: I focus on your strengths. You have resilient traits that have gotten you this far; we will build on those to help you handle future challenges.

You Don’t Have to "Just Deal With It"

In Texas, we often pride ourselves on being tough and resilient. But resilience isn’t about carrying the weight of the world until you collapse; it’s about knowing when to ask for a hand so you can keep going.

Whether you are navigating a major life transition, dealing with workplace burnout, or just feeling a low-level hum of anxiety that won’t go away, you deserve a space to unpack it. You deserve to enjoy your weekends on the lake or your evenings with family without your mind being elsewhere.
