Living in Conroe often feels like you’re caught between two different worlds. On one hand, you have the quiet beauty of the Piney Woods and the weekends on Lake Conroe that draw so many people here. On the other, you have the reality of one of the fastest-growing cities in the country—the endless construction on I-45, the rush of new subdivisions popping up around Loop 336, and the pressure to keep up with it all.
If you are feeling weighed down by sadness, exhaustion, or a sense of hopelessness, you aren’t alone. Depression often thrives in the gap between the life we’re supposed to be enjoying and the heavy reality we feel inside.
My name is Anamile Guerra. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, and I provide online counseling to help residents of Conroe navigate these challenges. You don’t have to drive into Houston to find a space where you are heard.
When the "Lake Life" Doesn't Feel Peaceful
Conroe is known as a place where people come to relax—whether that’s fishing in April Sound, grabbing a show at the Crighton Theatre, or hiking in the Sam Houston National Forest. But when you are dealing with depression, living in a "vacation destination" can actually make you feel more isolated. It’s hard to admit you’re struggling when everyone around you seems to be enjoying the boat life or the excitement of a new home in Grand Central Park.
You might be experiencing:
- Persistent fatigue that no amount of sleep seems to fix.
- Irritability that flares up during the daily grind, especially if you’re commuting.
- Pérdida de interés in the hobbies you used to love, like weekend trips to 7 Acre Wood or local festivals.
- A feeling of being "stuck" even as the city grows rapidly around you.
Depression isn't just about feeling sad; often, it’s about feeling numb or disconnected. My goal is to help you bridge that gap and reconnect with yourself.
Skip the Commute, Start the Healing
If you live in Conroe, you know that driving anywhere south—whether it’s The Woodlands or downtown Houston—is a strategic operation. The construction on I-45 and the congestion on Highway 105 can turn a simple appointment into a three-hour ordeal.
I believe therapy should relieve stress, not add to it. By offering 100% online counseling, I help you fit support into your actual life, not your travel time.
- No sitting in traffic near the Loop or getting stuck behind construction crews.
- Privacy and comfort from your own home, whether you’re in Graystone Hills, River Plantation, or a quiet spot near the lake.
- Flexible scheduling that works around your shift work, school drop-offs, or commute.
A Bilingual Space for You / Un Espacio Bilingüe Para Ti
Conroe is a diverse community with deep roots. I am fluent in both English and Spanish, and I know that sometimes the deepest emotions are best expressed in your native language. If you or a family member feels more comfortable processing thoughts in Spanish, I offer a culturally competent space where you can switch between languages as needed.
Entiendo que buscar ayuda puede ser difícil, especialmente en un idioma que no es el suyo. Ofrezco servicios de consejería en español para que pueda expresarse con total libertad y confianza.
My Approach to Treating Depression
I work under the supervision of Jennifer Gonzalez, MS, LPC-S, and Amanda Varnon, MA, LPC-S. My approach isn't about giving you a generic checklist of "happy thoughts." Instead, I use evidence-based methods tailored to who you are.
Terapia cognitivo-conductual (TCC) helps us look at the negative thought loops that fuel depression. For example, if you constantly tell yourself "I'm falling behind" while watching the rapid growth of the city around you, we’ll work to dismantle that narrative.
Terapia Breve Centrada en Soluciones (SFBT) allows us to identify the strengths you already have. You have navigated life in a bustling, changing city; we can use that resilience to find practical, small steps toward feeling better today, not years from now.
I also draw from Terapia centrada en la persona, which simply means I follow your lead. You are the expert on your life. My role is to provide the safety and tools you need to understand it.
