LatinX Therapist

Living in the Sun City, we are surrounded by a unique kind of resilience. From the Franklin Mountains cutting across our skyline to the historic streets of Sunset Heights and the rapidly growing neighborhoods of the Far Eastside, El Paso has a spirit you don’t find anywhere else. We are a community that prides itself on being “El Paso Strong.”

But sometimes, that pressure to be strong can make it difficult to admit when we are hurting.

Whether you are navigating life after military service at Fort Bliss, dealing with past wounds that have resurfaced, or carrying the silent weight of generational trauma, you do not have to walk this path alone. I’m Anamile Guerra, and I provide online counseling to help you heal, recover, and find your balance again—without the need to navigate I-10 traffic to get the support you deserve.

When “El Paso Strong” Feels Heavy

El Paso is a city of beauty and grit. We have the stunning views from Transmountain Road and the vibrant energy of downtown near San Jacinto Plaza. But for many of us, the external beauty doesn’t match our internal reality.

Trauma and PTSD don’t always look like they do in the movies. You might not have flashbacks every day, but you might notice:

  • Hypervigilance: Feeling on edge in crowded places, like the busy stores at the Fountains or the Outlet Shoppes.
  • Avoidance: Finding reasons to skip family gatherings in the Lower Valley because the noise or questions feel overwhelming.
  • Numbness: Driving along Scenic Drive and realizing you can’t connect with the beauty in front of you because you feel emotionally “checked out.”
  • Irritability: Snapping at loved ones over small things, like the never-ending construction on Loop 375.

Trauma leaves an imprint. It changes how we see ourselves and how we relate to our families. In a culture that values familia and closeness, pulling away can feel isolating.

Why Telehealth Fits Your Life in the 915

El Paso is a sprawling city. If you live in Horizon City or Pebble Hills, the idea of driving to a therapist’s office in Kern Place or the Upper Valley during rush hour can feel like a barrier to getting help. The “Spaghetti Bowl” convergence of US 54 and I-10 is stressful enough on a good day; it shouldn’t be the thing that stops you from prioritizing your mental health.

I offer 100% online therapy throughout Texas, which is particularly valuable for El Pasoans.

Private and Accessible

El Paso is a big city with a small-town feel. Everyone seems to know everyone, especially in tight-knit communities like the Westside or Ysleta. Telehealth offers a layer of privacy that many of my clients appreciate. You can attend sessions from your parked car on your lunch break, your home office, or anywhere you feel safe.

Consistency Matters

When you are working through trauma, consistency is key. By removing the commute—and the stress of finding parking or fighting traffic on Mesa Street—you are more likely to stick with the process. We can meet whether you are at home in the Northeast or visiting family in another part of the state.

My Approach: Healing in Your Language

One of the most beautiful aspects of our region is our language. We live in the Borderland, where English and Spanish often flow together in the same sentence.

I am a bilingual Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, fluent in both English and Spanish.

Trauma is often stored in the language we spoke when it happened, or the language we use to comfort ourselves. In our sessions, you are free to express yourself however it feels most natural. If you need to switch to Spanish to describe a feeling that doesn’t quite translate to English, or use “Spanglish” to feel like your authentic self, that is fully welcomed. You shouldn’t have to translate your pain for your therapist to understand you.

I work under the supervision of Jennifer Gonzalez, MS, LPC-S, and Amanda Varnon, MA, LPC-S. My approach is grounded in compassion and evidence-based techniques, including:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): To help us look at the thought patterns that might be keeping you stuck in the past.
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT): To help us identify the strengths you already possess (and as an El Pasoan, you have many) and use them to build a better future.
  • Person-Centered Therapy: Because you are the expert on your own life. I am here to walk alongside you, not to dictate your path.

Understanding Trauma and PTSD

Trauma isn’t just about “big” events like combat or accidents—though those are certainly valid causes, especially given the heavy military presence in our community with Fort Bliss and veteran families. Trauma can also be cumulative. It can come from:

  • Childhood emotional neglect or abuse.
  • Difficult relationships or unexpected loss.
  • The unique stressors of border life and navigating dual cultures.
  • Workplace stress in high-pressure industries.

When left untreated, trauma can manifest as anxiety, depression, or a feeling of being “stuck.” My goal is to create a safe, confidential space where we can unpack these burdens at your own pace. We will work together to develop coping strategies that actually work in your daily life, helping you move from simply surviving to truly living.

You Don’t Have to Climb the Mountain Alone

Looking up at the Franklin Mountains, the terrain can seem rugged and intimidating. Healing from trauma can feel the same way. But just as there are trails and guides for the mountains, there are paths forward for your mental health.

You have already shown incredible strength by reading this far. The next step is simply reaching out.

I work with adults, older adults, and couples who are ready to make a change. Whether you are in the heart of the city, out in Socorro, or anywhere in the El Paso area, I am here to support you.

Let’s Connect

I invite you to reach out for a consultation. Let’s discuss what you are going through and see if we are a good fit for one another. I would be honored to support you on your journey toward a healthier, more balanced life.
