You moved to Fulshear for a reason. Maybe it was the promise of more space in Cross Creek Ranch, the quiet, tree-lined streets of Fulbrook, or just the desire to escape the density of Houston for something that feels a bit more like "home."
But sometimes, even in the most peaceful surroundings, the internal noise doesn't stop.
Living in a beautiful, fast-growing community doesn't make you immune to pain. Whether you are dealing with a past event that won't let go, the lingering effects of a difficult childhood, or a recent overwhelming experience, trauma has a way of following you—even out to the quiet of Fort Bend County.
My name is Anamile Guerra, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate. I help people in Fulshear and across Texas process trauma and PTSD through secure online counseling.
When the "Perfect" Life Feels Heavy
Fulshear is unique. It’s a place where "country charm" meets rapid suburban growth. You might spend your Saturday mornings at the Fulshear Farmer's Market or grabbing a bite at a local spot on FM 1093, trying to enjoy that slow-paced life everyone talks about.
But inside, you might feel isolated.
Trauma can make you feel disconnected from the people around you. You might look at your neighbors in Weston Lakes or Polo Ranch and feel like everyone else has it "together" while you are silently struggling to keep your head above water. You might find yourself:
- Feeling constantly on edge, waiting for the next bad thing to happen.
- Avoid specific places or situations that trigger painful memories.
- Struggling to be present with your family because your mind is stuck in the past.
- Feeling exhausted from trying to maintain a "perfect" exterior.
I want you to know that you don't have to carry that weight alone, and you certainly don't have to drive into Houston to find relief.
Skip the Traffic on FM 1093
If there is one thing that stresses everyone out in our area, it’s the construction and traffic on FM 1093 and the Westpark Tollway. The last thing you need when you are dealing with trauma or anxiety is to sit in bumper-to-bumper traffic for 45 minutes just to get to a therapy appointment.
I offer 100% telehealth appointments, which means we can meet wherever you feel most safe and comfortable.
- No commuting: Save that hour (or two) you’d spend driving to the Energy Corridor or Sugar Land.
- Privacy: In a tight-knit town where everyone knows everyone, walking into a local waiting room can feel exposing. Online therapy offers a layer of confidentiality that many of my clients appreciate.
- Comfort: You can curl up in your favorite spot at home, with your pets nearby and a cup of tea in hand.
My Approach to Healing
I believe that therapy shouldn't be cold or clinical. It should be a partnership. I am bilingual (fluent in English and Spanish), which allows me to serve a diverse range of clients who may feel more comfortable expressing their deepest emotions in their native language.
I work under the supervision of Jennifer Gonzalez, MS, LPC-S, and Amanda Varnon, MA, LPC-S. My approach is grounded in empathy and evidence-based techniques, including:
- Person-Centered Therapy: I provide a non-judgmental space where you are the expert on your own life.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): We will look at how your thoughts influence your feelings and behaviors, helping you break cycles of negativity.
- Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT): We will identify your strengths (you have more than you think!) and use them to build a path forward.
I don't promise a magic cure—healing from trauma is a journey. But I do promise to walk alongside you, offering guidance, tools, and a safe harbor when things get rough.
Is It "Trauma" or Just Stress?
Many people I talk to in the Fulshear area hesitate to reach out because they think their problems aren't "big enough." You don't have to be a combat veteran to experience PTSD (though I am here for you if you are).
Trauma is simply the body's response to a deeply distressing or disturbing event that overwhelms your ability to cope. This could be:
- A car accident on a busy highway.
- A difficult medical experience or loss.
- Emotional neglect or abuse in childhood.
- A sudden life change that has left you feeling shaken.
If it is affecting your sleep, your relationships, or your ability to enjoy life in Jordan Ranch or Fulshear Creek, it is worth addressing.
