Living in the “Hippo Capital of Texas” comes with a unique sense of pride. There is a specific charm to spotting the concrete hippos on front porches in Old Town or grabbing a slice of pie at the Texan Café. But Hutto isn’t just a quiet farming community anymore. It is one of the fastest-growing cities in the state, evolving rapidly from a small town into a bustling hub between Round Rock and the new developments in Taylor.
With that growth comes a new kind of pressure. The construction on FM 1660, the increasing traffic on Hwy 79, and the rapid expansion of neighborhoods like Star Ranch and Carmel Creek can make life feel like it’s moving at breakneck speed.
For many, this external noise can amplify internal struggles. If you are dealing with trauma or PTSD, the world often feels unsafe or overwhelming, regardless of how friendly your community is. You might be carrying the weight of past experiences that make it hard to enjoy the present moment, whether you’re walking the trails at Hutto Lake Park or trying to relax at home in Hutto Highlands.
I am here to help you navigate that weight. My name is Anamile Guerra, and I provide online trauma counseling to residents of Hutto and across Texas, offering a safe space to heal without the need to add another commute to your day.
When the Past Impacts Your Present
Trauma is not just about “what happened” to you; it’s about how that experience lives on inside you. You might find yourself feeling constantly on edge, easily startled, or emotionally exhausted. Maybe you avoid driving down certain roads, or perhaps crowded places like the Co-Op District on a weekend feel too overstimulating.
It is common to feel like you are the only one struggling, especially when everyone else seems to be keeping up with the “Boomtown” pace. But trauma can leave you feeling stuck, replaying old memories or feeling disconnected from your family and friends.
I work with adults who are ready to process these experiences. Whether your trauma stems from a specific event, long-term stress, or complex family dynamics, we can work together to help you regain a sense of control and safety.
Why Hutto Residents Choose Online Therapy
Hutto is in a strategic location—close to Austin, Round Rock, and Taylor—but that convenience often comes with a cost: traffic.
If you live in Riverwalk or Brooklands, you know that hopping on SH 130 or navigating the congestion on 79 to get to a therapy appointment in North Austin or Georgetown can add an hour or more to your day. That is stress you don’t need when you are trying to heal.
Telehealth allows us to meet wherever you feel most comfortable.
- Privacy: No running into neighbors or colleagues in a waiting room.
- Comfort: You can curl up on your own couch with your favorite blanket or a cup of tea.
- Consistency: It is easier to stick to your healing journey when you don’t have to battle rush hour traffic near the railroad tracks to get there.
My Approach to Healing
I am a bilingual Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A), fluent in both English and Spanish. I know that Hutto is a diverse community, and for many, being able to process difficult emotions in your native language is a crucial part of the healing process.
I do not believe in a “one-size-fits-all” method. Instead, I use a blend of approaches tailored to you, including:
- Person-Centered Therapy: We move at your pace. You are the expert on your life, and I am here to walk alongside you, not push you.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): We look at how thoughts and behaviors are connected, helping you identify patterns that might be keeping you stuck in a trauma response.
- Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT): We identify your existing strengths—the resilience that has gotten you this far—and use them to build the future you want.
I work under the supervision of Jennifer Gonzalez, MS, LPC-S, and Amanda Varnon, MA, LPC-S. My goal is to empower you to overcome obstacles, whether that’s anxiety, depression, or deep-seated trauma.
A Safe Space for You
Reaching out for help takes immense courage. It is normal to feel nervous about opening up, especially if you have been holding onto things for a long time. My promise is to provide a confidential, non-judgmental environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings freely.
You don’t have to carry the weight of your past alone. Growth happens through collaboration, and I am dedicated to supporting you every step of the way.
