From the outside, life in Prosper often looks picture-perfect. Whether you’ve just settled into a new build in Windsong Ranch or you’ve been here since the silos were the tallest structure in town, there is a distinct pressure here to maintain a polished exterior.
We live in a community known for its “Small Town, Big Heart” motto, where Friday night football at Children’s Health Stadium is a religion and the rapid growth along Highway 380 never seems to stop. But I know that for many residents, this rapid expansion and the pressure to “keep up” can mask deep, internal struggles.
If you are dealing with past trauma or symptoms of PTSD, that contrast between the town’s booming success and your own internal world can feel isolating. You might be holding it together at work or during school drop-offs, but privately, you feel overwhelmed, on edge, or stuck in the past.
I’m Anamile Guerra, and I offer online trauma and PTSD counseling specifically designed for the lives of Prosper residents. I provide a space where you don’t have to perform or impress—you just have to be you.
Why Telehealth Works for Prosper
If you live here, you know the reality of Highway 380. It’s often referred to locally as “the parking lot” for a reason. The idea of driving 45 minutes to a therapy office in Plano or Frisco, sitting in bumper-to-bumper traffic near the Gates of Prosper, and then rushing back for a meeting or family dinner adds unnecessary stress to your day.
Trauma therapy requires a sense of safety and calm. Battling road rage on the Dallas North Tollway immediately after a vulnerable session is counterproductive to the healing process.
With online counseling, we meet on your terms. You can log in from your home office in Star Trail, your parked car in a quiet spot near Frontier Park, or anywhere you feel safe. You get high-quality clinical care without the commute, allowing you to transition back into your day gently.
Understanding High-Functioning Trauma
When people hear “PTSD,” they often think of combat veterans. While I certainly support those with military backgrounds, trauma in a community like Prosper often looks different. It can be “high-functioning.”
You might be a successful professional, a dedicated parent, or a high-achieving student at Prosper High or Walnut Grove. on the surface, you are thriving. But underneath, you might be experiencing:
- Hypervigilance: A constant feeling that something bad is about to happen, making it hard to relax even in your own home.
- Avoidance: Driving extra miles to avoid a specific intersection on Preston Road, or skipping community events because crowds feel unsafe.
- Intrusive Thoughts: Memories of a past accident, loss, or abusive relationship that pop up when you’re trying to focus.
- Numbness: Feeling detached from the joy of family life, like you’re watching your life happen rather than living it.
Trauma isn’t always one massive event. It can be the cumulative weight of difficult life changes, relationship wounds, or the stress of maintaining perfection in a high-pressure environment.
Privacy in a Connected Community
Prosper is growing fast, but it still has that small-town feel where you run into people you know at the grocery store or the post office. For many of my clients, the idea of walking into a local counseling center where a neighbor might see their car in the parking lot is a barrier to getting help.
Telehealth offers a layer of privacy that is hard to find locally. Our sessions are strictly confidential, conducted over secure, HIPAA-compliant video platforms. You don’t have to worry about running into your child’s teacher or a colleague in a waiting room. This is your space, completely separate from your public life.
My Approach to Healing
I believe that you are the expert on your own life. My role is to walk alongside you, providing the tools and perspective to help you process what has happened and move forward.
I am a bilingual Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A), fluent in both English and Spanish. I know that for many families in Texas, being able to express complex emotions in your native language is vital for true healing.
My work is grounded in evidence-based approaches, including:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): To help you understand the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
- Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT): To help us identify your existing strengths and use them to build a preferred future.
- Person-Centered Therapy: Ensuring that our work is always empathetic, non-judgmental, and paced according to your needs.
I practice under the supervision of Jennifer Gonzalez, MS, LPC-S, and Amanda Varnon, MA, LPC-S.
